NVHC Board Meeting 07-21-20

 

Board Members Present: Robyn Rippel, Becky Houlihan, Jason Lichtman, Mike Haggerty, Louis Dominguez, Kim Rozhon, Rob Wysoglad

Working Agreements:

• Be respectful of all opinions
• Speak openly & honestly
• Remember the importance of being fiscally responsible throughout decision making process and allow by-laws to drive decision making process
• Decision making should be for the good of the entire club, not personal gain
• Confidentiality is expected
• ​Any decisions need to be put to a vote with majority outcome

 

Website - (Marlena joined the meeting)

• Coronavirus Letter - COVID letter will be kept on website and take recommendation from AHAI after 7/22/20 meeting for what to change, if any
• Need ads and sponsorships. Would like to create ad for Chip Shots, they took last years Senior Night game pictures for free. Sponsors need to renew for each season.
• The new background image has been submitted and waiting for it to be uploaded
• Executive tab on website menu bar has been updated, members with multiple titles have been combined.  “Backside” is what the public does not see.
• New Board members have been added to the website, some have access to the control panel for scheduling, communications and data gathering
• Looking for assistant, to shadow and learn the website process 
• Misc: Throughout season would like team captains to please send Webmaster pictures of teams from practices, games, tourneys, events etc also communicate special events, announcements for websites scrolling ticker, throughout the season
• ​Website upgrade to newer versions (New contract needs to be signed.)

By-Laws -
The Board discussed updating the By-laws and an initial draft of changes to be brought to next meeting,

 

2020-21 JV Head Coach-

• Scott Farnaus expressed interest in being head coach for JV1.  After discussions the Board motioned  and approved  Scott as the JV Head Coach for the 2020-2021 season..

 

Tax Return (Year-End 4/30/20) - 

• Louis and Kim noted that the Board needs to  confirm that the tax return has been filed (due  Sept. 2020)

 

Equipment/Apparel 

Kim provided an update on the current equipment stock and spirit wear vendors for the upcoming season.. The gold jerseys are a custom color that require large minimum orders to purchase each year. Additionally, they are heavy and stay wet which make it difficult for skaters.  The Board voted and approved a change of the  gold jerseys to a stock color and same fabric as the white and navy jerseys purchased last year.

Louie made a motion that the league would pay for the gold jerseys for the returning varsity players and the purchase of new socks for all returning players. After a vote, all were in favor.

    

By-laws and/or Minutes posted on website or sent to Club members

The Board will be posting the current by-laws, profit/loss statements, and approve and post meeting minutes for monthly Board meetings.

Hardship Letters: All requests should be directed to the Club Treasurer.  After developing a suggested plan for payments, the Treasurer will bring to the Board for approval, keeping the family name confidential.  The Treasurer will be exempt from a vote for each hardship letter, along with any other board member who may know the name of the family requesting support.

Budget/Fees: Louis presented a current Profit/Loss statement.  The Board discussed payment structure (possibility of 5 checks, credit card payments with increased percent charge to be incurred by members). Final payment options have not yet been determined.

Parent/Player Meeting:

Plan is to present a Zoom meeting shortly after tryouts.The 7 Board Members will be together in one location to ensure a smooth and focused Zoom meeting with Chat room accessibility for Club Members to be able to ask questions.

Fundraising

1. Virtual Concerts: Kim presented the idea of a band called “Mount Joy” that is on the radio.  They are currently presenting virtual concerts.  5 songs and 30 minute Q & A through zoom.  

2. Virtual Trivia: Kim will investigate this as a possible fundraiser

 

Appointment of President:

Until a new President is appointed, the Board agreed to work as a 7 member team until the Club membership was informed about the need for a President and perhaps others would want to be considered for the position.

AHAI Meeting for Presidents Scheduled for 7/22/20: High School portion will be addressed.  Becky & Robyn will be on the call. IL West plans to have a meeting at the end of the month.
